The Ripper murders did not begin in 1888, but in March of 1879, when a beautiful woman is found slain and dismembered on Commercial Street in Spitalfields, London. When detectives arrive, they find not only the broken body of the victim, but a child who remembers nothing of who she is or how she came to be at the scene. Because the little girl has no known home, a gentle-hearted detective inspector named Charles St. Clair takes her to his home, and from that point on, his life will never be the same. Over the course of the next ten years, he’ll learn not only all about the girl but also about himself. And St. Clair will learn the truth about a supernatural battle that has been raging across England for four hundred years. The Redwing Saga presents an alternative telling of history, pulling back the veil of secrecy put into place by those who would deceive and destroy. Geopolitics, criminal investigation, and science merge with secret societies, angelic warfare, and human free will. Book One of the series, Blood Lies, introduces the characters—both human and non-human—as well as their backstories, and it starts us on a journey that will eventually lead from Whitechapel to World War.

Blood Lies Book One of The Redwing Saga Volume 1 Sharon K Gilbert Books

I couldn't put it down!!! The chapter breaks are well placed yet I kept wanting to read just one more chapter.

I am not one for novels but this one had me hooked from the first chapter. Usually a very slow reader yet I burned through this piece with ease.

Well written narrative with some sexually suggestive scenes and violence. The genealogies might be a bit confusing at first but the characters are historically accurate, well developed, rich with full personalities and great depth.

The story line flows nicely and even though the scenes switch from one location to another they remain fluid.

Spiritual Warfare (in novel form) at its best. Along the lines of Frank Peritti's "This Present Darkness", "The Visitation", "Piercing the Darkness" and the likes.

I think I have found a new favorite author. Sharon needs to get volume two out IMMEDIATELY!!!

Blood Lies Book One of The Redwing Saga Volume 1 Sharon K Gilbert Books Reviews

I wanted to read this book as I am a big history buff and also watch Sharon and Derek of SkywatchTV. I do not usually read fiction but with my interest in history and after listening to Sharon tell about it, I knew it would be really good and it is. there are a lot of people to keep track of but loving history as I do, I knew about many of them. I do believe that over the many centuries, the demonic and Satan have been active in families and in countries to stop our Messiah at every turn. I do look forward to her other books in the series but with all going on in or world, Jesus is coming soon so may have to be happy with just this one.
This was the most riveting book I have read in a long time. The mix of fact and fiction is merged into one great read. I could not put this book down. I can't wait for the next in the series.
I really enjoyed BLOOD LIES. The narrative is excellent, very well written. I love the characters. I am hungry for more of the spiritual warfare stuff. I really enjoyed the departure from 21st Century America's crass language in favor of the more formal and polite 19th Century British phrasing, spelling and interaction. So nice not having explicit curses and f-bombs every few words. I think it is an absolutely fabulous start to a supernatural thriller series. I can't wait to see what happens next, in book 2!
I purchased both Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the Redwing saga and they are wonderful reading. I read each in one day. Now I can't wait for Volume 3 which comes out in December. The plot is both challenging and interesting, and it quickly draws you in. The characters are well developed. And the story moves at a good pace. The story is set in the late 1880's in Victorian England and seems true to that period, but from a different perspective than the common romances set in the same period. It is basically a battle between good and evil and the two are well distinguished, with the "good guys" being confirmed Christians caught up in a battle with ages old entities determined to put in place a new world order with them at the helm. At the center of the story are the Jack the Ripper murders, which are used as a vehicle to define the evil entities. It is a well written story that captured my interest from page 1 of Volume 1 and held it to the very end of Volume 2. If you are looking for a story with strong Christian characters that stand against a well researched supernatural/occult background, then this is the book for you.
I could not possibly imagine reading another Jack the Ripper book. What more could possibly be said? Well, entering the realm of dynastic fiction while using supernatural elements of the Ripper cases as a florid backdrop, an enormous epic of centuries of good battling evil on a uniquely creative stage. What can I say but bravo. I also know enough about the time period to notice authentic details that may be missed by others. Again I say bravo and i am looking am forward to how you keep the tension tight and the twists and turns manifesting in the the next 2 volumes..
This book moves along pretty slowly. The conversations are a bit long and they repeat themselves. In the second book, Blood Rites, Gilbert explains that she wrote it to give the reader the feeling they are in the 1800s; she did an excellent job on that. I truly feel I am back in time when reading this book. I enjoy Gilbert's writing style, the suspense that permeates the book and I have grown to like the characters. Only 4 stars because of the slow pace and long conversations that could be shortened.
Ms Sharon, your writing is Excellence Personified. Your story is very believable. The study matter has been researched thoroughly and presented quite impressively from a professional writer creative artistic angle. I will be looking forward to reading the rest of the saga if the Yeshua our Messiah doesn't come back before your next release. 😁
You guys are doing a great job on SciFi Fridays & SkyWatch News.
