There is nothing Edward Bouchard would not do for his beloved grandfather. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Including, making a deathbed promise to the old man that not only is he finally in love - the one thing Stanley Bouchard has most desired for his workaholic grandchild - but that he asked this love of his life to marry him and she said yes! Ed’s only intention being to give his grandfather peace in his final moments.
But as fate would have it the announcement not only gives Stanley peace, it gives him strength and determination to hang on to life long enough to meet his new granddaughter-in-law and witness the ceremony for himself.
This is fine by Ed, who counts every moment with his grandfather as a precious gift. He just has one small problem . . . where the hell is he going to find a bride on such short notice?

RentABride edition by Elaine Overton Literature Fiction eBooks

This book started out great; I started reading own my morning commute, and was so disappointed when I got to work because I had a busy day ahead and knew I wouldn't be able to continue reading until lunchtime. Lunchtime finally rolled around, and the story continued to move along nicely. However, by the time I picked up again on my evening commute, the wheels fell all the way off; I'm still trying to figure out what happened.

I liked all the characters in the story, ad the storyline was a good one. But I just never got a feel for when Ed fell in love with Amelia. Attracted to her? Absolutely. But in love with her? I really never saw it. All of a sudden, he wanted to get married, after declaring he NEVER would. And I don't want to give anything away, but I thought Amelia's request near the end was really crazy. Speaking of crazy, as this story progressed, it seemed like the grammatical and punctuation errors also increased. Ms. Overton, you are better than this. Please, please, please get a good editor to ensure that this isn't an issue in your future novels.

I've read other books by this author and liked them all. This book just came off as a forced, rushed attempt to get a book out, which is disappointing.

RentABride edition by Elaine Overton Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I really enjoyed reading this book about Amelia Young, Dr. Ed and his eighty-three year old grandfather Stanley. Stanley is on his deathbed he has cancer and literally is hours away from being dead. The one thing he really wants is for his grandson to get married, but he doesn't believe in marriage. But to please his grandfather he hires Amelia to play his fiancé and to trick his grandfather into believe he's getting married. Read this book because its going to make you laugh, cry and cum a whole lot.
Okay, all the reviews said I would laugh. They still understated it. So you have the typical Midwest "gonna go Hollywood and be a star" girl. She almost gets in that porn trap, but has a moment of Hell no! Then there's the doctor who will move heaven and earth for his grandfather. Just to keep it fun, there is a vindictive nurse, a color challenged brother and my best advice" Put on a Depends!" I don't do spoilers, so read the book. A few typos and misused words, still it's a good story. You might even want a Merlin in your life.
I've been a deep fan of Elaine Overton for years and when I heard about this book I picked it up. Life got in the way and on a snow day, I started this and couldn't stop.

Funny, juicy and filled with great new ways to describe how gorgeous a man can be. Elaine's writing is thrilling and fascinating all at the same time and I cannot tell you how sad I was when the story came to the end.

Needless to say you will enjoy this romp in love from the first to the last page. Good read!
The story's premise is not new but the execution was different and I enjoyed that element of the story. What really destroyed the read for me was the word usage and the number of grammatical errors in this book. Where a word should be plural it is singular, i.e. "He take his time." instead of "He takes his time." "He shout at me" instead of "He shouts at me" or "He shouted at me." It happened so often, I began to wonder if, perhaps, the author talks this way.
Whatever the case, she needs to buy the services of an editor before her next book because she has much potential as a writer.
This was a short read but it was very funny and entertaining. Both lead characters were likeable. The story premise was a little farfetched but hey, this is fiction.

I should've listened to the other reviewers because I was reading this book at work during my lunch hour . One scene was so hysterical I embarrassed myself laughing out loud.

One complaint is there were a lot of typos. Several wrong words used (ie. Theirs instead of there's ) and some poor grammar. It was noticeable but not as bad as some books I've read.

All in all, this was a good read and I will look for more from the author.
Rent A Bride has great promise. I was immediately drawn in by the main characters and found myself laughing so hard at some points, where I was glad I wasn't in public. I don't know if the author had a page count she had to stay under because there were too many places where the story could have used more fleshing out. In other words I was ready for a five course meal and I wound up with a Happy Meal instead. The grandfather, Stanley was the only character that had true substance. Amelia was half way there, but she too needed more. Ed was just a shadow and he shouldn't have been. I can only hope that at one point the author gets the opportunity to redo this story and give it the full treatment it deserves.
I enjoyed the story ... or at least most of the story. Roughly 75% flowed, but the last 25% seemed rushed which left me wanting more. One particular Hospital scene was so funny I had to shut the door so as to not disturb my family while they're sleeping. I couldn't stop laughing!!.. I'm laughing just thinking about it now ..lol!!
All in all it had the Happy ending which I always enjoy in a romance novel.
nice work author!
